Brian Olson helping the kids down

The fist week of October is fire prevention week.

Each year since 1997 the fire prevention team has visited the 2 schools in our District to teach the kids about fire prevention and fire safety. We look forward to having pictures of the Fire Safety House next year at our schools!

This year we talked to the kids about making a plan, a fire escape plan for their homes. We were also very excited to show our new Fire Prevention Safety Trailer. In the trailer we can show the kids kitchen safety do's and don'ts , how to avoid getting hurt and what to do in the event of a fire. We smoke up the house and show the kids how to safely escape the building. Once the kids are outside we then talk to them about the escape and reinforce with them what they did and what to do when they get out. The Safe meeting place for the smoke house is a mailbox. At the mailbox we teach them when and how to call 911 and what they should know if they ever have to make that call.

We also brought our new Engine #2 with us to show off-

Every year the kids love to see all the bits and pieces of the engines

but the most important things ...

are where is the water and how loud is the siren!

This year our team was Jason Pickett, Barb Fox, Brian Olson and Sherry Hunter

Here are a few pictures of this October at Palominas and Valley View schools
